HARRISBURG, Pa. — The McCormick Riverfront Library is continuing to make updates to its buildings, this time with an expansion project.
The $3.5 million “Your Place to Belong” expansion project involves connecting the library with the adjacent former residence of Sara Haldeman Haly, who helped start the Dauphin County Library System.
“It’s a pretty unique opportunity when this property behind us became available, we were really it felt like, you know fate was at work for us. That was the home at one point of the woman who left the original request, and started the library,” said Karen Cullings, Executive Director for Dauphin County Library System.
The project will also include the addition of more than 3,400 square feet for a new family area that incorporates STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), arts, and reading elements as well as learning support, a community meeting space, and public computers.
This project is expected to be completed by October 2022.
